Kissing Summer Goodbye!

We had quite an eventful summer here at Oh Darling Events! We only had 7 weddings scheduled, which allowed for us to take a few vacations (Cape Cod, South Carolina and Disney World x3). We typically do not book as many summer weddings as Fall, Winter and Spring weddings mainly because we need down time and because it is so ridiculously HOT in Florida in May, June, July, August and September (And let's be real...in November... and December... and January... and February... and March... and April, haha). I mean HOT. Like walk outside for 30 seconds and sweat your face off HOT. All in a day's work! We have 25 weddings on the books this season and we are so excited to design for all of our amazing couples!

In other news, we found out this summer that we are expecting a little BOY at the end of January! I am so excited to share our gender reveal video with you below! Of course I had to keep it floral-themed ;) Stay tuned for photos of our summer weddings (as I patiently await photos from photographers). Have a wonderful week darlings! Be blessed!

Michael & Deborah's Vintage-Chic Christmas Tree Farm Wedding

FEATURED on Glamour & Grace! Click the badge above to see the goodies!

I was the Day-Of Planner and Floral Designer for this stunning Ohio wedding. It was a fun-filled weekend with some of my best "friendors" (friends that are vendors) in the industry, Alyssa Shrock Photography and Jessica Overholt Photography (cinematography). We were all selected and flown in from Florida by the bride and the Groom's mother, Kim who owns a vintage rental company in Sarasota, Florida called Danilyn Vintage Rentals. She so graciously packed all of her lovelies into a massive U-haul and traveled from Florida to Ohio. It was a complete labor of love to provide her son and new daughter in law with a perfectly styled vintage wedding that included a cigar bar, she-lounge and the most stunning farm tables. As a wedding planner, it melted my heart to see family work so hard together to make this day an absolute success.

Not to brag but... IT HAILED during the reception, which I pretty much thought was the best thing ever because I have never seen hail before and much less at a wedding! After about an hour, the hail quickly subsided into a romantic fog through the bases of the Christmas trees in the distance and it was PURE MAGIC.

Jennifer Matteo Event Planning Launch Party!

This was such a fun event celebrating the launch of my friend, Jennifer Matteo's business launch of Jennifer Matteo Event Planning! She is a beyond talented planner who goes above and beyond for her clients- I have never seen anything like it. I have SO enjoyed working with her over the passed year and I wish her crazy amazing success in the future of Jennifer Matteo Event Planning.

I had the pleasure of arranging flowers to go along with her branding colors of hot pink, green and white. I used Hanging Amaranthus, Queen Protea, mixed greenery, Roses and so much more! It was a blast. Enjoy the photos below by Carrie Wildes Photography! Thanks Carrie for these great shots!

BIG CHANGES!

Oh Darling Events has officially transitioned into a Wedding Floral Design business! We will no longer be offering Full-Service Wedding Planning and Day-Of Wedding Planning packages after our currently contracted weddings have been planned.

Floral Design allows me to order, process, design and deliver with PASSION and it is much more systematic for me than wedding planning has been. I have had a blast planning- don't get me wrong. However, I value the time I have with my daughter and my husband and planning was taking too much time away from them. This is what works for us! I am thankful for the opportunity I have to own this little business and do what I love. Life is too short to not be completely in love with your career. This change will allow me to pour my heart into Floral Design even more than before. My main focus is to design stunning arrangements for each one of my clients, providing them with a customized, boutique service they deserve for their special day. Here's to new beginnings and a fresh new outlook on my business!

IT'S FALL Y'ALL! (almost)

Okay okay... it is the last day of SUMMER but a little Fall wedding inspiration a day early never hurt anyone! I am just too excited! This is the beginning of wedding season and October, November and December are my favorite three months of the year!

Every year, I withhold Pumpkin Spice lattes, boot wearing, Salted Caramel Pumpkin air fresheners, Pumpkin Pecan cake and scarves until the first day of Fall #respect. As much as I loathe hot Summer days in Florida, too soon is just too soon! I do the same with Christmas (or I try REALLY hard and that never happens because there is literally Christmas merchandise in stores right now... It is September 21st and that is madness).

This season, we have 14 weddings booked from now until January! #whoanelly I am humbled and excited about the opportunity I have to work with so many awesome couples on the most special day of their lives!

A lot of people take the Fall theme too literally, in my opinion. Fall colors don't always have to be orange, red and yellow. Lately, I have been inspired by weddings with unique Fall color palettes like muted plum, marsala, sage and evergreen.

Fall wedding cakes do not have to look like faux birch bark or doused in an ORANGE buttercream icing. You can put a twist on your Fall wedding cake by simply adding fresh berries, delicate flowers and a salted caramel drizzle on top. Delish!

Floral arrangements do not have to incorporate Fall leaves, Sunflowers and Red Roses. I am loving the arrangement below which has so many interesting design elements that say "Fall" but doesn't scream it.

Are you stumped on Fall wedding favors? Give your guests homemade biscuits and jam for craps sake and call it a day! Their tummies will thank you.

I hope you FALL in love with the inspiration photos below! Cheers to a wonderful wedding season!

Our Wedding!

I have yet to share some of my wedding photos with my Brides! Today is the day.

I was browsing through old e-mails (like from 2011...woah) and I found an e-mail from Every Last Detail with information on our featured wedding! Our awesome photographer, Jason Mize Photography submitted it and did an AMAZING job capturing every perfect moment! If you take a peek at his website you will see us!!

Check out the ELD blog post here! And don't judge me for my bad decisions ;) Wedding Trends are EVER changing haha! I am still in love with 90% of it and 100% in love with how magical that day was. And life just keeps getting better. Now we have our sweet baby gal, Harper Ivy!

Harper's Boho Baby Pow Wow!

How the HECK is my baby girl already TWO years old!? People say that time flies when you have a wee one and MAN are they right. Harper was born on July 7, 2014 at 5:31 AM, weighing 6 lbs. 7 oz. and 18.5 inches long with a full head of dark hair! That little, tiny bebe is a full blown toddler now! She is my favorite person.

For her 2nd birthday party, I decided to throw her a Boho Baby Pow Wow at her Mimi's Teepee (AKA her Grandmother's backyard, AKA Mommy's childhood home). I chose the Boho/Powwow theme because she didn't have a preference (because she is 2) and Mimi's backyard is a special place for us and I knew it would be the perfect setting for that theme.

Harper wore a boho romper by AllyandAnnie, fringe leg cuffs by The Rosie Marketplace and a homemade gold and feather headdress by Mommy. Is it bad that some of my favorite photos from the party are the photos below where she decided, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to." #sorrynotsorry

I am an Event Planner in Sarasota and so I wanted to design a space that was functional for both adults and toddlers. I decided to contact a friend who owns a vintage rental company in Sarasota called Danilyn Vintage Rentals. She provided me with mismatched wooden chairs and two beautiful farm tables to act as the adult tables. I used palettes for the kids tables so that they were low to the ground and easy to access, but still SO cute! Danilyn Vintage Rentals also provided beautiful dishes, flatware and cups for the adult table.

Each child received a homemade headdress as their party favor which was a total hit. I was so surprised they kept them on their heads! These are two year olds we are talking about, after all. The other "hit" at the party was Mimi's new 8 week old White Boxer puppy, Lilo. Harper is absolutely obsessed with her "Weewo" and so was everyone else!

There were two teepees at the party for the children to hang out in and take photos in along with dreamcatchers hanging in the trees and a play area for sensory boxes, splash fountains and a playhouse for pretend play.

The cake was made by an Amish bakery in Sarasota called Der Dutchman. It was a two tier, white chocolate raspberry, naked cake with a pink drip/drizzle, greenery and a big, gold 2 on top! It was absolutely delicious.

Our photographer, Alyssa Shrock Photography, is amazing with children. She was able to capture fantastic images of our family, party details and Harper enjoying her party with her puppy and all of her buddies!

At the end of the party, we totally jumped in the pool and cooled off a bit. Florida is TOO hot! It was a wonderful day that we will never forget!

Wedding Trends on SSN 6 News!

Today I was given the opportunity to showcase one of my bouquets on SNN 6 News! My fabulous friendor (friend that is a wedding vendor), Jennifer Matteo Event Planning so graciously asked me to be a part of her segment on the TV station that should air sometime this weekend. Jennifer was interviewed on the current Wedding Trends for 2016/2017 and she did amazing! Other vendor contributions included a naked cake by Cakes by Ron, Bridal Headpieces and Shoulder Pieces by Blush Bridal Sarasota, Homemade jam favors by JustABasketCase and Beautiful Linens by Linens by the Sea

My Bouquet consisted of Queen Protea, Blue Thistle, Stock, Blupernum, Italian Ruscus, Red Roses, Hot Pink Roses, Wax Flowers, Tulips, Salal and Hypericum Berry. It was wrapped in moss and made with love! I chose those blooms because they are all the colors of the trending 'Jewel Tones' that a lot of brides are after! Rose Quartz for pink, Sapphire for blue, Emerald for greenery and Amethyst for purple.

Alyssa Shrock Photography was AMAZING and shot some beautiful images of this bouquet for me VERY last minute and I just adore her for it. If you are in search of a wonderful wedding, family or newborn photographer, Alyssa is your gal!

Happy Hump Day!

-Kristin

Jordyn & Brett

Jordyn and Brett's gypsy farm-stand themed wedding at Owen's Fish Camp in Sarasota was WAY too much fun! I fell madly in love with Jordyn's color scheme, decor ideas and her overall vision. I was so excited to make it a reality for her on her wedding day. It was a perfect day. I mean, you can't go wrong with a naked cake, flower crowns, boiled peanuts, a vintage Shasta photo booth and some high quality down home cookin' can you!? I am so happy these two found each other and I am blessed to call them friends. Congrats Jordyn and Brett!

Kathryn & Travis

Another Featured Wedding in the Books! Click the badge above to see the goodness!

What better way to celebrate The New Year than a wedding at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens with an amazing bride and groom?! Kathryn and Travis were such a team in the wedding planning process! They had a vision of copper decor, grey linens, flowing flower arrangements, and modern industrial elegance. Travis made their amazing copper candelabras and wedding arch by hand and they equally decided on each aspect of their wedding. How sweet is that!? I loved the personal touches they incorporated into their special day. Kathryn is originally from South Africa so she asked me to include the South African King Protea in her bouquet and for the mothers to carry as well. They were GORGEOUS! The coffee cocktail hour by Perq Coffee Bar was a hit with all of their guests! They were able to enjoy their coffee while playing lawn games like croquet and corn hole on the lawn. The rest of their decor consisted of Bay Leaf garland, chalkboard signs, cement candelabras, oriental rugs, ferns and lights strung overhead. It was such a joy to bring their vision to life as they were surrounded by their amazing group of family and friends.

Jose and Tara were a total DREAM couple to work with! Their love is so genuine and beautiful, and it showed on their wedding day. We never really got to have an initial face-to-face consultation (as they were living in Boston during their engagement) but Skype dates and e-mails worked just as well and I completely saw their vision from the get go! I was drooling over Tara's hopes for a modern winter romance theme with hints of marsala, white, gold and greenery. The Devyn was the perfect venue and the Alexandra ballroom was absolutely stunning for the reception with it's massive chandeliers overhead, exposed brick and modern design throughout. The guest tables were decorated with simple white linens, gold chargers, pine cones intertwined with Eucalyptus, Christmas Pine and gold candles. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out for the new Mr. and Mrs. Correa and I wish them all the happiness in the world!

Behind the Scenes of Oh Darling Events

Welcome friends!

Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Kristin. I am a 27 year old Sarasota native, wife to Mitch, Mommy to my 2 year old Harper Ivy, cat Mommy to Benny, die hard crafter, former college athlete, animal lover and small biz starter! I was an Art major in college and I found my passion for wedding planning and floral design while planning my own wedding in 2011. My experience in floral design began at Suncoast Technical College where I learned how to make floral arrangements for all occasions and quickly fell IN LOVE! I had a dreamy engagement in Central Park on Cherry hill in a horse and carriage in the snow and we had an even dreamier wedding at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and The Ritz Carlton in Sarasota on January 7, 2012.

Fun fact: Our Anniversary is on January 7, My birthday is on December 7, Mitch's birthday is on May 7, Harper's birthday is on July 7 (7/7/14), His parents' Anniversary is on Harper's birthday (July 7), the year I graduated from high school is 2007, My soccer/volleyball number in high school was 7, our cat's birthday is February 7, our address number is 5773, my old address was 4475, our Dad's have the same birthday and we are just FREAKS! Either that, or we were totally meant to be together for the sake of all things 7! ;)

I have had such a blast starting my own business and I am constantly amazed by all of the doors that God has opened! I have met some wonderful people along the way and I cannot wait to continue to grow and LOVE what I do every day!

Here are some behind the scenes shots of my new office! I have had so much fun putting the finishing touches on this bright and happy workspace and it makes me love what I do even more :) The cat loves it too. He has been hired as Office Manager and he takes his role very seriously.

Thanks to Katelyn Prisco Photography for the wonderful images of my office!
